Denman was a hoarders’ haven on Saturday when collectors from across the region and as far afield as Sydney gathered for the Upper Hunter Collectors Fair.
Organiser Michelle Moon said more than 200 people visited the fair throughout the day.
“It was a very successful day, better than last year and we also had a lot of enquiries from people wanting to exhibit next year, so it will be even bigger and better next year,” she said.
“There were a lot of people who made contacts on the day to trade and swap goods.
“Some people go just to display their collections and others go to swap and sell, although that may not necessarily be on the day.”
“One of the most frequently heard comments on the day was ‘My mother used to have one of those’. It was nice for people to take a trip back in time and see something familiar to them in their family when they were young.”
Mrs Moon, who is an avid cookbook collector, was presented with a Lebanese recipe book by a local lady on the day.
“It was a lovely surprise and it had a lot of interesting ideas,” she said.
“I didn’t have one, so it adds to my collection.”
