FEEDBACK has been sought from the Muswellbrook community on the design for a new council logo.
Muswellbrook Shire Council first proposed the new logo in February, with the initial design completed by council staff.
In recent months, with input from the community, some changes have been made and now the council is calling for members of the public to give their opinion on the design.
The proposed logo consists of five ‘petals’ based on the Muswellbrook orchid, which is also known as the Pine Donkey Orchid.
Each coloured petal represents a different aspect of the shire.
The grey segment represents the mining and power industries, green represents agriculture and national parks, blue for the meeting of the Goulburn and Hunter Rivers, red represents the meeting place of the region’s Aboriginal tribes, the Wanaruah and Kamilaroi and yellow represents the people of Muswellbrook Shire and its community spirit.
A report to councillors in February said the new logo would be used in addition to the existing shire coat of arms.
“The new logo will be used to assist in the promotion and corporate branding of the council and Muswellbrook Shire as a whole,” the report said.
“We need to consider our image when attracting tourism, business and residents to the area.
“Council needs to be seen as being progressive and modern.
“The people of Muswellbrook need to see that their council is active in the area, and having a simple, recognisable symbol will promote council services more effectively.”
The proposed logo can be viewed on the Muswellbrook Shire Council website, in the ‘latest news and information’ section.
Community members are invited to email their written submissions to the General Manager at council@muswellbrook.nsw.
