The small town of Sandy Hollow will spring to life this weekend for one of the year’s biggest events.
The Sandy Hollow Horse Ride is in its 16th year and is set to attract more than 200 riders.
The ride will consist of cross country riding, which will cater for both experienced riders and those who are a little less confident.
The path follows the Goulburn River flats through vineyards and up Camel Hill to take in the breathtaking views of the valley.
In the past, everyone has enjoyed what the ride can offer, from doctors to pilots, teachers to dairy farmers and miners to shop assistants.
They come from all over NSW to take part.
They will ride together in an effort to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
In the past, the ride has raised more than $170,000 for the Westpac Helicopter Appeal.
People are welcome to make a weekend out of it with camping available Friday night and a band at the Tourist Hotel.
Following the ride on Saturday at 4pm, there will be a charity auction, free activities for the kids and Newcastle band Rough Diamonds.
For the first time this year, there will also be a tug-of-war competition.
Each team will be made up of 10 people and there are sure to be some spills and thrills as people tug it out for the $350 prizemoney.
Entry for the ride is $20 per person and $50 for a family group, which includes morning tea.
