The Fraser family of Aberdeen has returned from National Dairy Week in Victoria with reason to celebrate.
Mark and Leanne Fraser took eleven cows to the event in Tatura with each receiving ribbons.
The greatest success belonged to their son Brad whose heifer ‘Fraser Final Kay’ claimed the title of
juvenile champion that is judged on overall type.
The juvenile category is restricted to heifers younger than two years and follows on from it being named the overall champion at the 2009 Hunter Valley Calf Show.
A separate portion of the show was the sales at which there was further success.
The Fraser Holsteins’ entries averaged almost triple the sale average with $24,000 made.
The average for the sale was $9038.
Mr Fraser said National Dairy Week was one of the few events they now choose to attend and was happy to again have success.
“We have had the dairy farm for 35 years and it is the only show we go to now,” he said.
“We are milking 750 cows so that’s the only one we really have time for.
“Last year we won the overall reserve champion and this year we were happy to win the juvenile champion.”
