Police investigate early morning fatality

Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatality at Muswellbrook in the early hours of this morning.

About 4.35am on Wednesday, police were called to Edderton Road, which runs between the Golden Highway and Denman Road.

Police found a southbound four-wheel drive had left the road and crashed into a tree.

A man, who has not been formally identified, was found dead inside the 4WD.

Edderton Road was closed for some time while police examined the scene.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing and police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
