Preschool children and their families are off to the races for a fund-raiser at the Coal Country Cup on Saturday, February 18.
“We have the space and it’s a nice mix of entertainment for children and adults, which is a bit unusual,” Muswellbrook Race Club general manager Helen Sinclair said.
“There will be a full race program as well as all the wonderful things for the children the preschool has organised, so everyone is happy.”
Everyone is welcome at the Muswellbrook Preschool Kindergarten family day and fete.
There will be Devonshire teas and a homemade cake stall so parents will have a chance to have a cup of tea and a scone while the children enjoy the jumping castle, super slide, pony rides and face painting in a beauty parlour.
Muswellbrook Race Club offered the venue and a contribution from gate takings for the preschool’s annual event to welcome new families.
The preschool has more than 200 children aged three to five years and a long waiting list of families seeking places or more days at the facility.
Plans for expansion have been approved but they are still chasing funds.
Proceeds from the race day will go towards furnishings, toys and equipment.
Aside from a drop in the average age of race-goers the TAB meet will also be an earlier start than usual.
Gates are open from 10am to 4pm with the first race at 11.35am and the last at 3.30pm.
It is the first matinee race meeting to be held at Skellatar Park Racecourse.
Entry is $5 a person or $10 for a family.
