MUSWELLBROOK students Keedi Hartin, Cody Wright and Madelin Ortiger may be young, but they
already understand what peace is all about.
Their entries were among more than 375,000 submitted worldwide in the 21st annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.
The local section of the competition is run by Muswellbrook Lioness Club.
It aims to emphasise the importance of world peace to young people across the globe.
Posters entered represented the students’ thoughts on the theme ‘The Power of Peace’, however contestants were not allowed to include any words on the poster.
Open to students aged 11 to 13 years, youngsters from Muswellbrook Public School, Muswellbrook South Public School and St James Primary School entered the local section of the
competition.
Muswellbrook Lioness Club
president Wilma Holmes said she
was impressed by the expression
and creativity shown by all the entrants.
“It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them,” she said.
The three selected posters (one from each participating school) will advance to face stiff competition in the district round of the contest.
From there, the competition goes on to multiple district and international rounds, with one poster from all those entered declared the international grand prize winner.
