The first day at big school can be very daunting for a kindergarten child but not for six Muswellbrook Public kinders who knew they already had a friend.
Last week Muswellbrook Public School had three sets of twins start school in kindergarten.
Ben and Joshua Halliwell, Campbell and Chloe Martin and Joel and Caleb Smith made the big step to primary school along with their fellow classmates.
Yesterday the twins told the Chronicle to date school had been fun.
Caleb Smith said his favourite activity at school was playing and his brother Joel said he thought the best thing was drawing and playing with cardboard.
Caleb and Joel are the youngest in their family with three older siblings.
The twins and their family moved to Muswellbrook from Western Australia (WA) about two months ago so they have already had a little taste of school.
Caleb and Joel’s dad Damion Smith said because they were from WA the boys have been to kindy and pre-primary already so they knew what school was all about and were keen to go.
He said it was different sending the twins to school because there were two of them.
“We didn’t have to worry about them going to school at all because we knew they had each other,” he said.
Muswellbrook Public School principal John Fibbins said it was uncommon to have three sets of twins in the one year.
“We’ve had a couple of lots of twins but in my time this is the first occasion where there have been three in the one year,” he said.
