Amory Merrick has started the new year with a winning feeling.
During January, the former Sandy Hollow Public School student competed in two state athletic competitions and brought home a swag of medals.
The 11-year-old took part in the two-day NSW Country Athletics Championships and collected three medals.
Amory competed in the under-12 division against athletes from NSW and the ACT in hurdles, shot put, discus, javelin and long jump.
In the 80-metre hurdles, Amory came in second place and collected two bronze medals for her efforts in the shot put and discus.
She finished fourth for javelin and sixth for long jump.
The championships were held at the Glendale Athletics Centre.
Earlier in the month, Amory travelled to the Central West and represented Denman at the Dubbo New Year Carnival and came home with six medals.
