Hallett primed for tournament

19 Jun, 2009 12:19 PM
TWO of Muswellbrook’s up-and-coming boxers are hard at work training for tomorrow’s PCYC tournament at Taree.

Luke Sandell-Hay will be making his fifth appearance in the ring, while 15-year-old Matthew Hallett will have his first fight.

Boxing trainer Phil Wallis said this weekend’s event was good preparation for the two fighters, who would compete at the PCYC State Boxing Titles next month.

In a coup for Muswellbrook PCYC, the club is also hosting a two-hour coaching clinic with former International Boxing Organisation world middleweight champion Daniel Geale.

Geale, 28, will be at the PCYC from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday, June 27.

Muswellbrook PCYC manager De-anne Douglas said Geale had generously volunteered his time to help raise money for youth development programs at the club.

There is a limit of 40 places available to train with the Commonwealth Games gold medalist, at a cost of $40 each.

To reserve your place, contact the PCYC on 6541 1434.
