MUSWELLBROOK junior cricketer Taylor Scott has reached his ultimate goal.
On Tuesday he was named as an opening bowler in the NSW State team that will play against the ACT on Monday.
Scott, a 16-year-old Muswellbrook High School student, has taken the cricket world by storm this year with numerous major selections in the past six months.
Already this season he has represented in the Hunter Valley Under 21 side where he was selected to play in the Northern NSW Under 21 Country Emu Colts team that will tour New Zealand in January, and he was chosen to play in the Central North Open side in the Country Championships.
To make the state team he was selected in Hunter Valley Under 17 team, the Central North team, Northern NSW team and the NSW Country team twice.
Monday’s twenty20 game at Blacktown Oval will be one of many in the lead up to the National Finals in South Australia in January 2010, where the team will play in a curtain raiser match before the KFC twenty20 Big Bash between South Australia and Victoria.
Scott said he was very happy when he found out he’d made the team.
He said being the only player from this area to be selected in the 13 man squad was pretty exciting.
“I’ve been working towards state selection for the past two years, so it’s good,” he said.
Taylor’s father Brian Scott said Taylor was the first Muswellbrook junior in living memory to be selected in the team.
Scott was also excited to gain sponsorship from Kookaburra in recent weeks.
