The improved amenities at Olympic Park were officially opened by Federal Member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon on Monday.
The Olympic Park project cost $80,000 and included upgrades to both the kitchen and public amenities in addition to the construction of handicapped amenities.
The funding comes as part of the Federal Government’s Economic Stimulus Plan and is a further boost for the facility.
Muswellbrook Rams Rugby League Club president Steve Veitch said it was of great value to the players and also the wider community.
“It is great news to have upgraded facilities like this. It will benefit the town as we will be able to attract more rugby league like the Knights or maybe even a Sydney preseason game,” he said.
“When you have good quality amenities you will generally attract more events and it makes it easier for us to approach other clubs to visit.”
The facilities will be regularly used when the rugby league season gets back underway next year and when the club hosts the Hunter under 18s championships in April.
Mr Veitch said the field was also set to receive new regulation goal posts next year that have been purchased by the Muswellbrook Shire Council.
