Inter-hotel pool comp comeback

15 Jan, 2010 01:29 PM
The time-honoured tradition of Muswellbrook’s pubs and clubs vying for top spot at the pool table will hopefully re-start this summer.

Railway Hotel publican Greg Smith (pictured) will host a meeting on Monday night to gauge the interest in the inter-hotel competition which he hopes will begin on February 1.

“The competition is open to any establishment with access to a pool table,” Mr Smith said.

The Railway patrons are all fired up, ready to put forward three teams while the Valley Hotel has also expressed interest in submitting a team.

Mr Smith said the details would be worked out at the meeting but in theory there would be a round-robin competition with six people to a team playing a total of nine games a night, six single matches and three doubles.

Matches would be played on Monday nights at different venues with the aim of winning the shield for their venue.

The pool competition meeting will start at the Railway Hotel on Monday at 7pm, contact 6543 1061.
