MUSWELLBROOK born race horse trainer Gabrielle Englebrecht has set the ball rolling for a successful career taking her first win earlier this month.
Farthing Stone, a three-year-old filly owned by Ralph Gilbert, and jockey Jeff Lloyd brought Gabrielle her debut win in the AJC Search for a Princess Handicap at Randwick on Tuesday, September 9.
Miss Englebrecht has been training horses for just nine months since she gained her horse trainer’s licence in January.
Following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather, the young Warwick Farm based trainer is one of the youngest horse trainers in the metropolitan area.
At 22, Miss Englebrecht currently trains 15 horses seven days a week and rides all her own track work, a full time job that has now reaped great rewards.
“It’s very hectic but there isn’t anything else I’d rather be doing, that’s for sure,” Miss Englebrecht said.
Miss Englebrecht was ecstatic about her win and hopes it will be one of many.
“It felt brilliant, nothing has felt better,” Miss Englebrecht said.
“Hopefully it all kicks off from here,” she said.
The proud Englebrecht family was present on the day and was extremely happy with their daughter’s success.
Miss Englebrecht’s next race will be in the two-year-old Jim Crack Stakes at Randwick on October 4.
