Knights are in sight

05 Feb, 2010 09:39 AM
The Newcastle Knights will take their training to Muswellbrook next weekend.

The top 22 players in the team will visit some of the local primary schools next Friday to run coaching clinics and then do some training of their own on Saturday morning with the public welcome to watch.

They will also lend their support to the Group 21 junior rugby league competition when they attend a fundraising night at the Muswellbrook Golf Club on the Friday night.

The event has been jointly organised by the clubs in the Upper Hunter and will feature a charity auction, guest speaker and lots of music. Jim Callinan has been confirmed as the master of ceremonies for the event.

Muswellbrook Shire councillor Jeff Drayton is coordinating the night and said the money raised will stay local.

“All proceeds from the night will be put back into local junior rugby league clubs and the development of the game in the Upper Hunter,” he said.

The players will be up bright and early for their training session at Olympic Park on the Saturday which starts at 9am and finishes at 10.30am.

After the training session the Knights will be available for a meet and greet session and autographs with the children.

Tickets for the fundraising night are available at the Muswellbrook Golf Club or by contacting junior rugby league club executives.
