The first grade side had previously been led by former NRL player and Waratahs player Wise Kativerata in 2009 but this year chose to keep it local.

Heath Collins and Daniel Forder have been regular Rams players since their youth and will be joint player/coaches in 2010.

Collins said the team would hope to further the progress made during the 2009 season.

“We won a few games last year and we are looking to build on that; the finals are a definite goal for us this year,” he said.

“We have got some new guys coming in and also some of the under 18s from last year but quite a few in the side will remain the same.”

The first grade won’t be the only team to feature a new coach with Steve Haylen taking on the role of under 18s coach for the first time.

Haylen had previously coached the first grade side from 1997 to 2000 and was a part of the last two winning teams in 2002 and 2004.

He said he would make sure the players set their sights high in training and matches.

“Most of the team will be new as a lot of the players from last year are now too old.

“I’ll be looking to get them enjoying themselves and not just have their eyes set on the under 18s but aim towards playing in the first grade side,” he said.

The reserve grade side will be guided by player/coach Josh Nean and Jason O’Halloran will again be fitness coach for all grades.

The coaches were all of the same view that they wanted to function as one club with all three grades combining for

training sessions.

Interested players are invited to attend the weekly training sessions that will resume on Thursday at 6pm. From then on sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm.
