All three have made their mark on the region’s social calendar.
And, so, five years ago, it was decided that Muswellbrook would introduce the public to Carnivale in Spring.
Now, in 2013, the event is a celebration of the people, by the people, for the people, according to co-ordinator Kevin Doherty.
“I believe the locals are starting to embrace the concept,” the Muswellbrook tourism and promotions officer said.
“Denman, Scone and Aberdeen all had signature events, so we needed something new.
“Carnivale in Spring celebrates the diversity of our community and the unity of our people.
“Muswellbrook is unique – it has a fantastic array of backgrounds.
“And, as a result, the town is home to people from all corners of the globe.
“Carnivale’s a festival of art and culture, sport and adventure, from intimate affairs to big ticket extravaganzas.
“The Uniting Church’s centenary celebration, as well as the Bengalla Cup, kick-started this year’s program.”
The highlight of last week’s official launch at the Muswellbrook Race Club was the delicious selection of foods prepared by local residents from different ethnic backgrounds and members of the Muswellbrook Global Care Multicultural Ladies Group.
