A series of vibrant mosaics were created during a school holiday community project and, on Wednesday, they were set up by the basketball court with help from Muswellbrook Men’s Shed.
Local artist Leanne Ward provided her creative talents for the workshop.
The project was funded by Compass Housing and the company’s community development officer, Mel White, said she was very impressed with the venture’s success.
“It’s very clever, so professional,” she told the Chronicle.
“It’s added colour to the park and a bit of life.
“It’s about helping people in this place and we’re so pleased to hear the feedback from tenants [who are] really pleased.
“It gives them pride in their place; [they are] proud of what they’ve achieved.
“Leanne is an incredible artist and very good at working with children.”
Ms White believes ownership and pride have been a theme for this project and was grateful for all the efforts of everyone concerned.
“I’d like to say thanks to the community that got involved,” she said.
Muswellbrook Men’s Shed secretary Dennis Sheehan said the group was delighted to contribute to another community project.
Leanne Ward was also thrilled with the outcome.
“The kids loved it,” she said.
“I found it very rewarding to be working with the kids and their ideas and input.
“I’m looking forward to participating in more projects in the future.”
