Denman Devils secretary Peter Barry said it would be ideal to double that figure before the 2014 competition began.
“Rugby league is our number one sport here in Denman,” he told the Chronicle.
“Most are local boys and they’ve got a good coach, Phil Bone.
“We look after the kids the best we can; it’s all about the kids in the end.
“Our committee also does a lot of work.
“As far as the club goes, we do have really cheap regos.”
The team’s mentor, Bone, thoroughly enjoys his role with the Devils and is anticipating a great season.
“I love it, coaching is nearly as good as playing,” he said.
“My objective this year is to have the best defensive side in the under-14s.”
Barry said the club receives great support from the community, which allows them to keep costs down for players.
The $50 season registration fee includes shorts and socks, a club shirt, and a custom football.
The Denman-Sandy Hollow Rugby League Club also featured on the national stage when it was named the Telstra One Community Grassroots Club of the Year in 2013.
“Come and make new friends,” Barry said.
“We don’t care if they’ve never played rugby league before, it’s a chance to learn.
“It’s a good, healthy activity in a team environment – good for fitness and good for social skills.”
Training is Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm to 6pm at Denman Oval.
