This week the number of participants went to over 300 – and it has continued to rise by the day.
The overnight event on April 12 is raising much-needed funds for the Cancer Council, and participants from Muswellbrook have banked more than $24,000 so far.
Relay for Life is a community event that will raise awareness and provide support for those affected by cancer.
The opening ceremony is at 2pm at Weeraman Fields on April 12, when survivors and carers will be cheered on for a lap of honour, before being joined by their teams.
As the afternoon passes there will be activities and entertainment for everyone.
While the sun sets the focus turns to remembering loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer and looking to the future in the Candlelight Ceremony of Hope.
While hours pass, some people keep on walking, while others retire to their tents.
As the sun rises, so do the spirits and the whole event is wrapped up from 8am.
There is still time to donate, or to register, to be a part of Muswellbrook Relay for Life.
Registration is only $20 per person, with children more than welcome to join the community fundraiser.
Visit www.relayforlife.com.au, and you will be able to find the Muswellbrook event.
Important meetings
Team captains are encouraged to attend two upcoming information evenings to prepare for Muswellbrook Relay for Life.
The first will be at the Muswellbrook RSL Club on Thursday, April 3, from 6pm.
Then, on Thursday, April 10, we’ll be at Weeraman Fields at 6pm to have a chat about where everything will be on the day.
People attending this site inspection are asked to be respectful of the AFL training that will take place at the fields.
Shirts will be available for collection and there is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the event.
