The side went close to a victory last weekend, in round two, but had to be satisfied with one point after drawing 24-all with defending premiers Denman Devils.
Denman enjoyed a handy lead in the opening half, however Muswellbrook refused to surrender.
The Devils had better luck in reserve grade, knocking over the Rams 36-16, while the under-18s also registered a tied result at 24-all.
Muswellbrook’s women’s league taggers flexed their collective muscle with a 46-0 thrashing of Denman.
The Rams now face the Tigers, who suffered a 50-18 loss to the Scone Thoroughbreds, at McKinnon Park, Aberdeen.
It was a hard day at the office for Aberdeen.
The reserve graders were defeated 28-14 by Murrurundi while the women’s league tag team also went down to Murrurundi 22-0 at Wilson Memorial Oval.
Tomorrow, the Tigers will host the Rams in three grades.
The women’s league tag starts proceedings at 2.45pm.
Reserves kick off from 3.50pm, with the firsts taking the field at 5.15pm.
Denman meets the Greta Branxton Colts at home on Sunday.
