Curtis, 13, and Macey Irving, 11, took part in the World’s Greatest Shave, raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“I saw it on TV and thought I should do it,” Curtis said.
“I just wanted to help,” Macey added.
The family have not been touched by leukaemia, but a family friend did the shave last year which may have inspired their decision.
The Aberdeen Sport and Recreation Club hosted an afternoon filled with raffles, face painting, a barbecue and more that was supported by the Aberdeen Old Boys, who held their golf day the same morning.
“I didn’t get nervous until about 20 minutes before we did it,” Macey said about the big day.
“The first night I couldn’t stop feeling it.”
When asked if they are happy with what they have achieved, in raising about $3500 for patient support, research and care, there was no hesitation in either of their responses – “yes”.
They would like to thank Finders Keepers, Dees Gifts, La Bella Salon, Matthews Jewellers, Melories, Dimmocks Meats, Muswellbrook PCYC, Aberdeen Newsagency, Carly Barker, Farrams, Avista, The Surf Shop and IGA for their support of the cause.
