THE Muswellbrook Cats ended their first season in the Black Diamond AFL with a 13-13-91 to 6-8-44 loss to Newcastle City at the No 1 Sportsground.

Newcastle City had Muswellbrook on the back foot from the first bounce and led by 16 points at the first change.
The Cats struggled to match the finals-bound Newcastle City across the ground and trailed by 30 at half-time.
A promising third quarter gave Muswellbrook a glimmer of hope but a goalless last quarter saw the final margin extend out to 47 points.
Cameron Davis, Michael Duck, Ben Sawkins and Owen Den hey were the best for the Cats.
“Muswellbrook finished the season in sixth position with nine wins and eight losses,” Black Diamond AFL football operations manager Garry Burkinshaw said.
“It was a pretty impressive debut.
“The Cats scored victories over Warners Bay and Cardiff, along with claiming the Nathan Duncan Shield over Singleton,
as the highlights.”
