That’s the story staff at Coles Muswellbrook tell and those efforts have been worth it after the store was named among Australia’s top 20 fundraising stores within Coles.
Dropping by the store for a photograph this week, The Muswellbrook Chronicle was told by duty manager, Carrie Edwards, that staff had the community to thank as much as anything else.
“We had a cup cake day and even those who didn’t want to buy a cake, donated money towards our cause,” Carrie said.
She added that this year they kept the money within Muswellbrook benefitting young people living with Cancer through the Redkite organisation.
Funds raised locally contributed to the $10 million raised nationally for the organisation and raised the money through a series of barbecues, raffles and Redkite card sales.
Muswellbrook team members, Sharron Palmer and Kerry Woodeson led the charge by organising barefoot bowls days, head shaves and a Redkite Walk for Cancer.
