Muswellbrook Christian School’s newly-appointed principal David O’Hara is also keen to see what the new year holds.
The teacher moved from Canberra with his wife Sonya when he saw the opportunity to be a principal.
Mr O’Hara has more than 15 years teaching experience and expects the new role will have its challenges, but also be rewarding.
He said the most important part of teaching is providing a safe environment where children are able to learn and progress.
“[It’s important] in all areas, not just academically, but also socially,” he said.
Mr O’Hara said while technology advances at a radical rate the basics of teaching are still the same.
“I think the new technology changes the way we learn but not what we learn,” he said.
Mr O’Hara is anticipating a great year of teaching in 2015.
