Doran won the award at Muswellbrook’s Australia Day celebrations for her achievements in athletics, netball, swimming, touch football and physical culture.
She has represented the town at state level in both long and triple jump, broken 15 club records, and claimed the Athlete of the Year gong for her local club.
Among her other accolades are trips to state tournaments for netball between 2008 and 2012 and making it to national level in 2003 for physical culture.
While it was an honour to be recognised for her efforts, she remained eager to work hard to improve even further.
“It was a big achievement to win this, it’s good to have people know now all that I’ve done over the past few years,” she said.
“I’m going to keep going to club meets, keep getting better, and hopefully go away to more competitions to compete against talented athletes.”
The 18-year-old former Muswellbrook High School student went through a rigorous training regime so she could challenge in several different sports.
A typical week consisted of her playing touch football on Mondays, training for athletics on Tuesdays, and then taking part in netball on two separate days.
She is now working full-time but will soon return to her intense sporting schedule.
