In the meantime, the Denman teenager (pictured) is travelling to Newcastle multiple times a week to rehearse for the Hunter Drama production of Fame Jnr.
This isn't her first time in a show; she was also part of the Dr Doolittle cast who performed in Singleton around two years ago.
And, while she enjoyed the experience, she loves working on Fame Jnr.
"[I love] just being up on stage and singing and dancing," she said.
The 13-year-old was also one of the Corny Collins Council girls in St Joseph's High School's recent production of Hairspray.
Her proud mother, Lois, is a big supporter and transports her daughter to rehearsals with Hunter Drama in Newcastle several times a week.
"It would be good to see more kids involved and more availability here [in the Upper Hunter]," Laura said.
"I started Drama at Hunter Drama at the start of the year.
"It's lots of fun and you learn heaps of stuff," she said.
While there is plenty of travelling involved, both Laura and her mother agree it has been rewarding.
The Year 8 student has made lots of friends in Newcastle and Mrs Valantine is glad to be able to provide her with the opportunity to perform.
Laura has no intention of finishing her drama activities when Fame Jnr. finishes next month.
"I just want to be a lead one day.
"I'd like to thank Mum for taking me down [to Newcastle], and Hunter Drama for giving me the opportunity," Laura said.
Fame Jnr. will be at the Civic Playhouse in Newcastle from July 1 to July 4.
