However, this year, she decided to do something a little bit different.
The local woman thought to use her craft skills to create some little yellow-coloured products to sell along with the usual merchandise supplied by the Cancer Council.
After getting the all clear, Mrs Miles made everything from knitted chickens and fluffy coat hangers, to woollen daffodil broaches.
Today is Daffodil Day, and schools, groups and workplaces across the Upper Hunter are raising money and awareness for the Cancer Council.
Mrs Miles considers the day important because funds are raised for all types of cancers.
“It touches so many people cancer it’s a dreadful thing,” she said.
Mrs Miles said even if people aren’t interested in buying a product, they are often interested in just donating money to the cause regardless.
She has heard many stories of people’s stories from their experiences with cancer which they share as they pass the fundraising stalls.
To buy one of Mrs Miles’ creations, or other Daffodil Day merchandise, say hello at one of their stalls in front of the Westpac Bank, or at Muswellbrook Marketplace.
