Convenor of the Muswellbrook Embroiderers Guild, Sheena Hooper, said it is a wonderful collection of hand-done work by local women.

There are 19 women in the Guild, formed in the early 1980s to promote stitching, embroidery and friendship.

“Our work includes mainly embroidery and patchwork and we actually cover all styles of work,  including deer field, silk, ribbon, classic trapunto and hem stitching.

“The members have produced cushion covers, tablecloths with examples of ‘chicken scratching’, which is the old-fashioned cross stitch, children’s clothing and all sorts of items,” Mrs Hooper said.

The event was held at the Senior Citizen’s Hall in Market Street from 10am to 3pm.

Mrs Hooper said, although the women in the Guild are all doing embroidery or patchwork, each piece is unique. 

“It’s surprising what comes in and how quickly it disappears out the door,” she said.
