Wayne Rossington in the Variety Santa Fun Run in Newcastle this weekend.
The Muswellbrook resident has been training hard ahead of the event in support of the children’s charity, which exists to help those who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
This is the seventh year of the Santa Fun Run, and organisers expect more than 2000 people will participate.
As the name suggests, those involved wear a Santa suit during the 5km run or 3km walk, which begins at Harbour Square, Honeysuckle.
This will be Mr Rossington’s first Santa Fun Run, and he has been training hard to build his fitness for the event.
“I like to keep fit and do events like the Santa Fun Run for my mental and physical health,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to it as the event will be good fun, a bit of a laugh and great to get into the spirit of Christmas.”
It isn’t too late to join in the fun on Sunday, December 6, and there will be lots of activities including music, entertainment, and a Santa selfie stand.
Cost is $30 for adults, $10 for children, or $60 for a family of two adults and two children.
Registrations close 2pm, Friday, December 4.
