The local disability support service are able to buy a new set of wheels after receiving a $30,000 cheque from Muswellbrook and District Worker’s Club this week.
Regional coordinator Sally Pereira said her team was very excited to be given the funds, which they will use to buy a new vehicle.
“That’s such a big amount of money so we wanted to spend it on something big obviously,” Mrs Pereira said.
“It’s so exciting for us to get a new vehicle because it’s so hard to transport people around.
“You can’t expect staff to use their vehicles all the time.”
The club was required to make a substantial charitable donation to a local community based organisation.
Endeavour was chosen as the recipients of the $30,000, enabling them to purchase a new vehicle.
The donation was imposed as a condition of the club’s licence allowing them to increase their poker machine holdings by six machines.
However, while the money has been a big boost which Endeavour is grateful for, Mrs Pereira said the assistance from Muswellbrook Workers Club is constant throughout the year.
“Anything we need Scott [Bailey] is more than happy to help us out and is like a part of our family,” she said of the Workers Club general manager.
“We’re so grateful for the Worker’s Club and their support of Endeavour.
“Muswellbrook is such a small place that we’re limited in options and this gives our clients more options.”
Muswellbrook Workers Club general manager Scott Bailey said the club has an ongoing commitment to looking after organisations like Endeavour.
“We knew Endeavour was looking for a bus,” he said.
“We’ve got a pretty close working relationship with them.”
Past assistance Endeavour has received from the Workers Club includes extra space for their car washing initiative and special movie screenings in the cinema.
Mrs Pereira said the new vehicle will be used for activities in Muswellbrook, and to take clients on trips to Singleton and Newcastle for events, programs and activities.
