On Monday morning, many braved the chilly conditions to attend the Dawn Service.
Then, they lined the streets for the Anzac Day parade, which travelled along Bridge Street to the Muswellbrook RSL Club before returning to the cenotaph.
Muswellbrook RSL Sub-Branch president Greg Cole said it was a great day; and he was very happy with the level of attendance.
“I thought the Dawn Service was fantastic and the main service was great,” he said.
“I could not believe the number of people who turned up.
“I would like to thank everyone, particularly all of the children.”
Mr Cole was also grateful to Pays Air Services Scone for the vintage WWII flyover during the main service, and to Cross Country Ford for providing vehicles for veterans who needed transport during the march.
Guest speaker Captain Stephen Basley from the Royal Australian Navy gave the commemoration address.
He highlighted efforts of veterans who had served their country during times of war and times of peace.
Students from Muswellbrook High, Muswellbrook Public, Muswellbrook South Public, St James’ Primary and Muswellbrook Christian schools participated in the service with songs and poems, showing the memory of the Anzacs is alive in all generations.
