Singleton High School and Muswellbrook High School students participated in the annual NSW RFS cadet program during term two.
And, this week they demonstrated what they had learned in a friendly competition between the schools.
The pupils carried out a range of different group activities, helping each other along the way.
At the end of the afternoon, Muswellbrook High School was named the winner by one point.
However, judge Fred Turner said everyone was a winner.
Volunteers from Edinglassie, Scotts Flat, Darlington, Glendonbrook and McCullys Gap brigades helped throughout the program.
Muswellbrook students Jack Hayes said he enjoyed learning all the different equipment used by firefighters.
Fellow pupil Fin McTaggart said he liked participating with his friends and would definitely recommend the program to other students.
“It’s a one off chance to do something fun and cool,” he said.
