Between 9.30pm and midnight on Friday, January 20, police believe that a 36-year-old man was the driver and only occupant of a Holden Commodore sedan that was travelling south on Bylong Valley Way at Sandy Hollow.
Approximately one kilometre south of Richmond Grove Road, the vehicle appears to have left the road and rolled.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and appears to have died at the scene.
Officers from Hunter Valley Local Area Command attended and launched an investigation, however it is believed that speed was a factor.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area or may have witnessed the crash to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
