But, this week, the members took part in a self-defence demonstration, which was presented by Sally Comerford and her team from Empowering Young Women.
“It was a great afternoon with the ladies having a go and enjoying themselves immensely,” Heather Boyton said.
“The next thing on the agenda is Harmony Day on March 18 from 4pm to 7pm.
“An exciting program is being planned for the 2017 event, which we believe will be bigger and better than previous years.
“Artists from different cultures will sing and present dances – and join in if you wish.
“There’ll be face painting and demonstrations, stalls selling items, a raffle and lucky dip, Aboriginal weaving and dance.
“Toy Box and Moosh will also be there with activities for the children.
“On top of that, people can enjoy Ability Links with activities, a photo booth, a colouring-in competition and jumping castle, cooking demonstrations from Fiji and Indonesia.
“And, of course, delicious foods for sale cooked by members of the Muswellbrook Multi-Cultural Group, which includes Indian, Spanish, Philippine, Thai, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Chinese, Japanese, Scottish, English, Fiji and Taiwan.
“Everyone is welcome to attend, entry is free but bring along some money to enjoy the goodies and other things on offer.
“We’d like to thank BHP Billiton and Upper Hunter Community Services for their support.”
