Club to Club is a three-year council project, which aims to get the community involved in restoration works on Muscle Creek between the Muswellbrook Golf Club and the Muswellbrook District Workers Club.
The works are needed to improve habitat, vegetation connectivity and water quality.
“Currently large stretches of Muscle Creek are overgrown with weeds and vines that strangle our native trees and can create water quality issues,” council’s sustainability officer Nicholas Alexander said.
“Muswellbrook Shire Council has recently completed rehabilitation works along the creek near the railway bridge – and it’s really looking great.
“It would be amazing for the community to come out and help continue this great work further along the creek.”
The project involves partners Muswellbrook Golf Club, Remington Motor Inn and Muswellbrook and District Workers Club.
Muscle Creek Landcare and Conservation Volunteers Australia will also be involved in the weekend of working bees.
The Club to Club working bees are scheduled to take place from Saturday through to Monday, April 1 to 3, and will involve a free lunch for volunteers.
Participants can also win a free dinner for two at supporting venues.
