The 10-year-old booked a berth at the Little Athletics NSW State Track and Field Championships following an impressive performance at the recent regional event, which took place at Glendale last month.
On that occasion, Day returned home with three medals – one silver and two bronze.
She finished second in the under-10 100m sprint, registering a PB (personal best) and a sizzling time of 15.96 seconds.
The youngster backed it up with another PB, and an 11.93, to claim third in the 60m hurdles.
For good measure, Day then leapt 105cm to secure a top three spot in the high jump.
She’ll now be the shire’s lone representative at the state championships, at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre (SOPAC), from March 17 to 19.
The event is the culmination of the track and field competition season, for age groups under-nine through to under-17.
Day will contest the 60m hurdles and 100m double.
“I was happy with my results [at regionals],” she said.
“But, pretty surprised.
“I went to Glendale to do my best and, hopefully, make it to state.
“And, now that I’m there [for the first time], I’m excited and a bit nervous.
“I’m not sure what to expect.”
To prepare for SOPAC, Day is putting in a big effort.
“I’m training nearly every day,” she said.
“I’ve also been working with Matthew Jeans before Little Athletics every Tuesday.
“To place in the top three, and beat my PBs, would be good.”
At the completion of the State Track and Field Championships, a team of 26 under-13 athletes will be selected to compete at the Australian Little Athletics Championships.
It’s certainly a goal on Day’s radar.
“My dream is to represent Australia one day,” she said.
“But, I know it will take a lot of hard work to do it.”
