The resource auctioneers are expecting in excess of 800 domestic and international buyers to attend both days, Wednesday and Thursday.
Equipment going under the hammer includes 500-tonne Hitachi excavators, loads of Nissan Patrols and 30-plus huge Caterpillar rear dump trucks.
Hassalls Australasian key account director Steven Wainhouse, who is overseeing the auction, admitted it was an “once-in-a-lifetime” sale.
The auction, open to the public, started from 9am at Drayton coal mine, located on Thomas Mitchell Drive, Muswellbrook.
