Robert 'Bobba' Dial wins another Mayor's Cup at Muswellbrook Golf Club

LOCAL legend Robert “Bobba” Dial snared his sixth Mayor’s Cup at the Muswellbrook Golf Club at the weekend.

The 40th edition of the tournament boasted a strong field of contenders.

But, it was Dial who held off the young guns to claim another title.

A tough opponent in any stroke event, he’d previously won the trophy five times – his first as a 21-year-old in 1986.

Dial said his experience in the competitive arena gave him the edge over the club’s youngsters.

“In the end, a shot separated myself from a couple of guys,” he explained.

“It’s [Mayor’s Cup] an event I really enjoy.

“The course was set hard on Saturday.

“However, I was pretty happy with the way I hit them.

“I’m thrilled with the result.”
