THEY love what they do, and it is starting to show.
Muswellbrook High School and Scone Grammar School students are recently returned from the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).
The team, Carbon Crusaders, put their robotics skills to the test in the international competition in Sydney.
The First Australian Regional Competiton - Southern Cross included 30 teams from Australia, Brazil, Taiwan, Singapore and China.
Muswellbrook High School teacher Katrina Byrnes was proud of the pupils’ efforts during the event on March 13 to 15.
“We placed third at the end of qualifying rounds and went into the playoff rounds,” she said.
“Our team made it to the final round and lost the final match by only a few points.”
But, the fun didn’t stop at the recent event.
“As the second seed final team and the captain team we were awarded the wild card entry to the World Championship event in Houston,” Ms Byrnes said.
“We urgently need community support to help fund our travel and ship our robot to Sydney to be flown to the USA.”
The students are scheduled to leave Muswellbrook for the event on April 13, returning April 25.
The team has three weeks to organise everything they need to be ready for their flights.
