But, since her dance school burned down last year, Emily Manning has been rebuilding it to be bigger and better than before.
In July, only 18 months after Platinum Dance Centre (PDC) was established, the business caught alight.
The Market Lane building, which also housed TLE Electrical and Repco Muswellbrook was soon demolished, causing Miss Manning to search for a new home for her dance family.
While waiting for a new permanent location, the dance school operated out of the St James’ Church hall in Brook Street.
Following two months off over the holidays in preparation for the move, classes started at PDC’s new location in Bridge Street in February.
Miss Manning said it was a great spot and that business had been going well.
“We have new people inquiring every day,” she said.
The studio, which features bright-pink walls, is capable of accommodating three classes simultaneously.
Miss Manning said the centre had started cheerleading, pom and musical theatre classes this year, as well as adult classes.
PDC has also grown from three teachers to five.
Miss Manning said she was grateful for all the support from the students and their parents since the fire almost nine months ago.
“They have all been willing to help out, and some have helped us paint,” she said.
Moving forward, Miss Manning is looking for more ways to expand on what she has built in the past couple of years.
After settling in, she would like to build on PCD’s collection of dance wear.
“We’ve still got enrolments open until the end of April,” she said.
