Even though numbers were slightly down due to other events on the same weekend, those who attended had another great night out.
“Despite the club not taking home grand final trophies this season, it was a wonderful accomplishment having second grade in the decider and the ‘thirds’ making it into the play-offs,” treasurer John Apps said.
“Well done to both teams.
“For a small district club to be successful, it involves a high level of commitment and dedication from all contributors big and small.
“Therefore, the Denman and District Cricket Club would like to send a huge thank you to sponsors The Denman Hotel, Harvest Restaurant, Grapevine Motel and IGA Denman for their ongoing support as well as the hosting of visiting out of area teams to our town.
“We cannot thank the Ball family highly enough for again doing the regular weekly raffles, which is another contribution towards lowering registration fees and enabling the game to be more accessible for all.”
The club also expressed its gratitude to Allan Mills, John ‘Snow’ Ryan and John Apps for the grounds, as well as Vanessa Whitten and Kate Cummings for cleaning the toilets.
“Thanks to Peter ‘Keg’ Ball and Ryan Cummings who cooked the barbecues when ‘Snow’ was unavailable – scored and also filled in when needed on game days,” Apps said.
“A huge thank you goes to Craig Heuston and Anthony Worth for captaining and organising third grade and Peter Mills for looking after cricket’s national database – MyCricket and updating the results to a deadline week in week out.
“Last, but not least, a big shout out to all players, parents and everyone who chipped in during the year.
“See you all soon for the 2017-2018 cricket season.”
