Following a break over Easter to nurse some bruises, the Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union (NHRU) Divisional outfit returns to familiar territory for the first time in 2017.
And, president Greg Buckley said the players were raring to go.
“It’s the annual Sponsors Day for the club,” he explained.
“So, we are expecting a great crowd to cheer on the boys.
“It’s a big season for the Heelers.
“We’re celebrating our 50th year – and this weekend is just one of the many events, which have been planned.”
The Muswellbrook RSL Heelers kicked off its 2017 premiership campaign with a 33-10 win over Cooks Hill 2 at Empire Park, Bar Beach.
In a game where everyone contributed, players’ player went to Mark Snow, while coach’s points went to Ben Heriot (3), Jason Tyerman (2) and Jeb Hardy and Scott Almond shared one.
