After impressing selectors to book berths in their respective Hunter Western Hornets squad, Urpeth was a member of the girls’ 18 years’ team and Jones the 14 years’ side at Ballina last month.
And, neither of them put a foot wrong.
Urpeth’s outfit claimed the JRC crown after upstaging the Sydney Scorpions 5-0 in the final.
Along the way, the Hornets upstaged the Sydney Mets (6-1), Northern Eagles (7-0), Southern Suns (10-0), Sydney Rebels (6-3) and Scorpions (2-1) to reach the play-offs.
There, they eliminated the Mets 6-0 to progress to the title match.
As for Jones, the Hornets suffered a 5-0 loss to the Scorpions in the decider, after surviving a thrilling semi-final, which resulted in a three-person drop-off.
But, she still captured the players’ player award during the tournament.
For good measure, Jones was also picked in the NSW under-14 merit side – a terrific achievement.
