TAFE NSW will join guests from the region's mining, business and education sectors to celebrate the graduation of 27 Mining Skills Centre apprentices with a final presentation ceremony this week.

The function is scheduled to take place at the Muswellbrook RSL Club on Thursday, May 25, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
The TAFE NSW Mining Skills graduation is celebrated annually and recognises the achievements of the first year apprentices who will go on to become future leaders in the Hunter’s mining sector.
Special awards will be presented on the night to recognise the programs’ highest achiever along with two outstanding students.
The evening will also include the presentation of the Hunter TAFE Foundation MEMMES Scholarships.
The scholarship was established by the Mining Electrical and Mining Mechanical Engineering Society (MEMMS) and is open to Mining Skills Centre graduates that are looking to complete post trade qualifications to advance their career in the industry.
The 27 Mining Skills graduates are employed as apprentices with local mining employers and group training organisations, including Bengalla Mining Company, BHP Billiton, Mt Arthur Coal, Port Waratah Coal Services, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Rio Tinto Coal and Allied – Hunter Valley Operations and Warkworth, MIGAS, Novaskill and Programmed Training Services.
TAFE NSW regional general manager north Elizabeth McGregor will be joined by special guests including Muswellbrook Shire mayor Martin Rush, Singleton deputy mayor Godfrey Adamthwaite, Mining Electrical and Mining Mechanical Engineering Society chairman Peter Whipp and Hunter TAFE Foundation’s Christine Warrington.
