Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said Roads and Maritime Services would carry out the work along a 900m section of the highway between Crinoline Street and 200m north of Kenilworth Street to improve motorists’ safety.
“Work involves widening the road shoulders and line marking and is expected to take four weeks to complete, weather permitting,” he said.
“Changed traffic conditions will be in place during work hours between 7am and 5pm on weekdays from Wednesday, May 24.
“To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, single lane closures, a reduced 40 km/h speed limit and stop/slow traffic arrangements will be in place.”
Motorists are advised to follow the direction of traffic control, signs and keep to the reduced speed limits.
“As ever, Roads and Maritime thanks our local community for its patience while work is carried out,” Mr Johnsen said.
