Simultaneous Storytime will return on Wednesday, with the 2017 tale being The Cow Tripped Over The Moon.
The storytime will form part of the program for the annual Picnic in the Park, a free community event at Simpson Park.
From 10.30am to 2pm, families will be able to enjoy a range of activities.
The day will include markets; local service information; Aboriginal dreamtime story; Muswellbrook Shire Council’s Sustainability Street; free-range ducks and chickens; Toybox art and craft; colouring-in, painting and playdough; and a photo booth.
There will also be visits from characters, including a Despicable Me minion, a Ninja Turtle, Elsa from Frozen, and Healthy Harold.
The event encourages the community and families to unite, have a healthy picnic whilst enjoying the activities and performances of the day in a relaxed atmosphere.
Each year the event celebrates the following themes for that year.
The 2017 Picnic in the Park themes are Neighbourhood Centre's Week – Belonging; Families Week – Stronger Families, Stronger Community; Volunteers Week – Give Happy, Live Happy; and, the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Day cares and preschools have been invited to perform on the day.
Simpson Park is located in Bridge Street, Muswellbrook, next to the train station.
