On Saturday, May 13, they hosted an Afternoon Teal event, in aid of Ovarian Cancer Australia.
The team raised more than $100 during the afternoon at Aberdeen RSL Club, which included market stalls, and entertainment by Chloe Hall.
One of the organisers, Nicole McLeod, said it was well-received.
“We’re a small group of ladies trying to run local events at the club ,” she said.
Mrs McLeod said it was an important cause because many women died from ovarian cancer and there was less awareness of it compared with some other diseases.
The local woman would like to thank a few people who made the event a possibility.
“[Thank you to] the dedicated volunteers at Aberdeen RSL Club, Chloe Hall, and the stall holders that donated items for the raffle that helped us raise the funds which have been donated to Ovarian Cancer Australia,” she said.
The group is planing to host another fundraiser in August for a different cause.
In the meantime, the Aberdeen RSL Club is inviting residents to attend a Where There’s a Will information session at the premises.
The event will begin at 7pm,on Monday, May 29, and include details about what the charity is doing in the Upper Hunter, and what they hope to achieve in the future.
