The region celebrated its own talented youngsters at St James’ Primary School on Friday when the Muswellbrook & Upper Hunter Eisteddfod hosted the school choirs section.
Infants – K-YR2 – hit the stage in the morning with representatives from Muswellbrook South Public School, Muswellbrook Public School, Merriwa Central School, Scone Grammar School, St Catherine’s Catholic College (Singleton) and St James’ Primary School.
The primary – YR3-YR6 – category boasted the likes of St James’, St Catherine’s, Scone Grammar, St Patrick’s Primary School (Lochinvar), Muswellbrook South, Muswellbrook and Merriwa Central.
The afternoon featured the whole school – K-YR12 campus; small schools; secondary; and local secondary – YR7-YR12 – divisions, with Scone Grammar, Merriwa Central, Belltrees Public, Belmont High and Muswellbrook High providing the highlights.
“We have again received good support for the eisteddfod sessions from both sponsors and performers,” minute secretary Robyn Vandine said.
“There are participants from throughout the valley – and beyond.”
The vocal section takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 27 and 28, at the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music.
