The colourful cavalcade of 80 Variety Bash cars visited the school on Saturday.
“The Variety NSW Bash granted our school a smart brailler, so any of our students with a vision impairment can access the same learning opportunities as everyone else,” assistant principal Bianca Mooring said.
“The smart brailler converts braille to text, meaning our pupils who use the machine can fully take part in all lessons and develop their writing skills, not missing out on any opportunities to learn and grow.”
The brailler was part of $51,000 worth of grants the Variety Bash gave to regional NSW schools during the event to help ensure kids, no matter where they live, don’t miss out.
On the last day of the week-long adventure, the Variety Bash crews were treated to breakfast by Aberdeen Public School, where they met the kids and saw the difference their fundraising makes to Aussie children.
“All our participants look forward to heading out on the Variety Bash each year and by far the highlight of every trip is when we get to visit the schools and meet the kids we support,” Variety NSW regional director Jason Bourke said.
“Thanks to the incredible generosity and hard work of our Bashers, we hope to raise more than $800,000 through the 2017 Variety NSW Bash.
“All of the funds raised will provide grants to kids in need.
“This might be a new wheelchair for a child with a disability, a scholarship to help kids achieve their sporting dream, or even nappies for a family doing it tough.
“Whatever it is, the money raised during our event will help Aussie kids who miss out to get a fair go, because that’s the Variety way”.
